New Year, New Update – Jan 23 2020

With the Christmas break, our continued launch into new markets, webinars and some associated issues, I did not write an update earlier this month. Time was given instead to the problems of the day. Here is what’s happening.

Development

We have decided to attempt to create our own charting system instead of teaming with some colleagues. Michael Summers, my computer development partner for the past 40 years and Andrew Gilchrist, my go-to guy on all things computer-related, will handle the development. Michael suggested that, as much as possible,  we keep everything under one roof. Our experience with Scholastic of New York taught us a lesson about giving away control. They gained the marketing rights to our Math Tutor system, did a poor job and spun that division off to another company.

Lesson learned.

Marketing

Mark Bishop is working wonders in our marketing with a razor thin budget. We have print and digital messages going out to a hundred thousand or more potential clients in two markets  homeschoolers and behavior therapists.  our numbers are gradually increasing in terms of the Try It downloading of five free lessons and our purchases of packs of lessons after the free sample. Given all of the disruption of the North American economy and society, we are confident that as stability returns, we will grow more rapidly.

Perks

We have already sent out all of the physical perks, such as signed hardcopy books and combo packs. We are now ready to send outthe digital reading program to those donors who chose one. We expect to complete this task by the end of the month.

Many of our donors gifted their copy of the digital reading program to the Amarok Society who are teaching slum families to become literate in Bangla and then English. We have just been able to establish that the teaching mothers are able to connect to our Digital Reading Program using their cell phones. This new tool will assist them to rapidly teach more children who cannot afford public school.  Beyond the gifts from donors, we will supply Amarok at no cost with as many copies of the program as they need to assist every teaching mother.

Dr. Dot Public Teachers Project

Dr. Dot has generously offered to help with lesson product costs for teachers looking to sign up and use our Digital Reading platform with students. We are still working out the details, but will be offering special deals to teachers struggling to find online resources that can help them teach children to read in this time of distance learning. More details to follow!

Regards,

  Michael
